Remember the stain on our hands from this act of disdain?
Do you remember the names of each person affected; considering a more permanent and qualifying power than that of a stain?
Unlike our twice removed stains in the natural, our hand is drenched in a past that was cruel to humanity.
Those that were affected by the institution of the Transatlantic Slave Trade weren’t black, and they weren’t even white, they were simply human. While their genes may code for these specific phenotypic traits, each person is simply a human being worthy of living a life with freedom and not materials subjected to psychological and physical conflict. Remember this acknowledgement that was set forth after the body floating plague business? Well you’re right in the way you remember it; it never happened!
To dispel some of the ignorance though, there’s a move, there’s a “heard voice,” there’s a force that is concerned with the aftermath in: healing, acknowledgment, and awareness of this dark past.
